In 1961, Yegorov graduated from the Moscow First Medical Institute with a degree in aviation and space medicine. Yegorov's
flight was on Voskhod 1, launched 12 October 1964. Along with Komarov and Feoktistov, he flew in the first multi-manned space-craft.
No space-suits were worn on this flight. It has been reported that Yegorov's father was a prominent Soviet brain surgeon,
and that he obtained his seat on Voskhod 1 through his father's connections in the Politburo. Died 12 September 1994
